How we’ve built an award-winning workforce – a reflection from Jordan Westcott, Managing Director 2295 1920 Timewade

It was an immensely proud moment when Timewade was announced as the winner of the Workforce Developer of the Year Award at the prestigious Devon & Plymouth Chamber Awards ceremony on 17th May. This award recognises our dedication and commitment to the learning, development and growth of our amazing team.

Over the past few years, we have made cultivating an exceptional workplace environment a top priority at Timewade. We fundamentally believe that happy, empowered employees are the key driver behind a successful business. By investing heavily in training programmes, clear career pathways and creating an open and supportive culture, we’ve been able to attract and retain a team of incredibly talented professionals.

From the moment someone joins Timewade, they go through a detailed 30-day induction plan to learn every aspect of our services, clients and key skills. We use a “See One, Do One” approach to ensure they don’t just read about it, but can properly demonstrate their knowledge.

The training doesn’t stop there. Every employee has a personal development plan that we review quarterly with their manager. We identify courses, job shadowing, site visits – whatever it takes to elevate their current role and prepare them for the next step in their desired career path.

We’re proud to play an active role in nurturing future technology talent as well. Through our apprenticeship programme with Exeter College, we’ve watched students like Alfie Edwards go from apprentice, to service desk, to now working as a Technology Success Analyst, out visiting clients.

At the end of the day, our philosophy is simple – staff who enjoy their work and feel truly valued will naturally succeed for themselves, their team, and the company. The incredible retention rate, positive feedback in anonymous staff surveys, and our growing list of long-term team members are all testaments that we’re on the right track.

Winning Workforce Developer of the Year is an honour, but it’s also a challenge to continue raising the bar. We’ll keep listening to our team, trying new initiatives, and never losing sight of what matters most – cultivating an environment where people can learn, grow and achieve their full potential.
