At Timewade we are proud to be one of the South West’s longest established providers of IT solutions. As a award winning Managed Service Provider, our commitment is to have a complete understanding of our client’s businesses so that we can empower them to use technology to boost performance and deliver brilliant results.

As our Financial Controller, your purpose is simple but powerful: to create a frictionless finance function that enables the entire business to operate with confidence, clarity and momentum.

A frictionless finance function means:
• Clients are invoiced exactly what we agreed, exactly when we agreed it.
• Suppliers and employees are paid accurately, promptly and always within agreed terms.
• Leaders have reliable, timely financial insight that supports smart decisions and sustainable growth.

To deliver that purpose, you will take ownership of the full breadth of our finance, admin and HR functions. Yes, you’ll ensure accurate accounts, budgets, forecasts, cash flow management and VAT returns — but the real impact of your work is that the business runs smoothly, people trust the numbers, and nothing gets in the way of our ability to grow.

You will lead our Finance and Admin Teams with clarity and intent, building a culture of high performance, continuous improvement and genuine collaboration. As an ambitious and expanding business, we expect the complexity and strategic importance of this function to grow. We anticipate a future need for a Finance Director, and we see this role as a meaningful opportunity for you to grow into that position over time.

At Timewade, we want people to do their best work in the way that works best for them. Once you’ve completed your induction, you’ll have the flexibility to work from home up to three days a week — choosing the rhythm that helps you stay focused, energised and effective. We’ll equip you with a full home office setup, from desk and chair to all the tech you need.

Our culture is shaped by the values our team lives every day. They’re not slogans on a wall — they’re the standards that create momentum, trust and progress across the business. We build partnerships, act professionally, lead by example, drive results, invest in your future, and get things done today, not tomorrow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the finance and admin function so the business operates smoothly, confidently and without friction.
  • Understand overall finance and accounting objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member.
  • Turn financial data into meaningful insight that supports smart decisions and proactive risk management.
  • Build forward‑looking budgets, forecasts and cash flows that help the business plan with clarity.
  • Ensure our purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control processes run accurately and reliably.
  • Take full ownership of core accounting processes.
  • Produce accurate monthly P&L and Balance Sheet reporting that gives leaders confidence in performance.
  • Deliver timely statutory and internal reports and KPIs that keep the business informed and accountable.
  • Use financial modelling to support strategic thinking and scenario planning.
  • Manage cash with discipline to protect liquidity and maintain an excellent credit rating.
  • Maintain strong systems and internal controls that safeguard the business and support growth.
  • Oversee payroll, pensions and employee benefits so people are paid correctly and on time.
  • Prepare and submit annual P11D calculations with accuracy and care.
  • Prepare VAT returns that are compliant, timely and error‑free.
  • Own the year‑end process and work effectively with external accountants.
  • Process overtime, TOIL and leave accurately to support a smooth employee experience.
  • Handle all financial information with absolute confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks before they impact the business.
  • Ensure full legal and regulatory compliance, including GDPR.
  • Drive continuous improvement by reviewing processes, legislation and opportunities for efficiency — and delivering approved changes.
  • Submit quarterly service leadership index data accurately and on time.
  • Lead investigations and resolve financial issues quickly to keep the business moving.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to shaping and delivering the financial strategic plan that supports long‑term growth.
  • Maintain consistency and quality across all accounting systems by creating and enforcing clear standards and procedures.
  • Develop training that strengthens the capability and confidence of the finance and accounting team.
  • Document internal processes so the function runs smoothly, transparently, and consistently.
  • Maintain awareness of the organisation’s key services to ensure finance supports them effectively.
  • Lead automation projects that simplify work for the finance and admin team and improve the experience for everyone who relies on these functions.
  • Record all work as activities or service tickets in the business management system to ensure visibility and accountability.

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience in a similar finance role (at least two years) and a recognised accounting qualification (AAT / ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
  • Strong grounding in accounting and bookkeeping, plus confident, advanced Excel skills.
  • A hands‑on, accountable approach — you take ownership of your processes and take pride in getting things right.
  • Great attention to detail, with the ability to spot trends, errors and opportunities for improvement.
  • The ability to think ahead and plan over a 6–12 month horizon, not just react in the moment.
  • Calmness and focus under pressure, especially in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Self‑motivation and the confidence to work independently.
  • Natural leadership skills
  • A commitment to your own development and a willingness to take on training as the business evolves.
  • A client‑focused, reliable, flexible and methodical way of working.
  • A genuine commitment to quality and excellence in everything you do.
